What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is the practice of devoloping, maintaining or restoring maximum movement and functional ability throughout the lifespan. Physiotherapist’s are human movement experts.
Do you do online sessions?
Yes we do. Read more about these here.
What techniques do Physiotherapists use?
Physiotherapist’s use physical (e.g. stretches, strengthening exercises, mobilisation, massage) and non-physical (e.g. education, cueing for movement retraining, cognitive re-training) techniques to help improve a person’s health, movement and functional ability.
Can I use my private health insurance?
Yes. If you have private health insurance with physiotherapy included as an extra you will be able to claim back all or some of the costs depending upon your individual insurance plan. We have a HICAPs machine on site so funds should be returned to you on the day.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
The first appointment with your physiotherapist will involve a verbal and physical assessment to gather as much information as possible about your concern. This helps your physiotherapist to determine the best course of treatment, which they will confirm through discussions in collaboration with you.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
All you need is yourself! Please also feel free to bring relevant documents (i.e. doctors referral or imaging/reports) and wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in. If you intend to use private health cover, please bring your private health insurance card so we can process your rebate on the spot through our HICAPS terminals.
Do I need a referral?
No, you do not need a referral to access physiotherapy. We do, however, welcome referrals from other health professionals and encourage you to bring these along to your first appointment or send through in advance.
Am I covered by private health insurance?
This is dependent on the level of cover on your policy. As all insurance companies offer a variety of different options, we recommend that you confirm with your provider before attending your appointment.
